St Kitts and Nevis Patriots all-rounder Navin Bidaisee admitted on Monday that he would like to play for the Trinbago Knight Riders.
The Powergen Sports player, who scored 50 on debut for the Patriots, played a First-Class match for the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in 2024, but his wish is to represent the Knight Riders, based in the country of his birth.
“It's just a blessing to be in CPL,” Bidaisee explained. “No matter what team, obviously I would have liked to represent TKR, but I'm grateful for the opportunity anyway.”
The leg-spinner shared how emotional he was on the team bus on his way to the venue.
“The feelings this morning, coming on the bus, were surreal. Just listening to music, feeling the cry, all kinds of things, just being here. It means a lot.”
Bidaisee, 25, who spoke with reporters after the Patriots' 12-run loss to the Knight Riders at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, San Fernando, reiterated why playing in the CPL in Tarouba was special.
“I grew up playing a lot of cricket here, so it's just a privilege and a blessing. So I thank God for everything. And of course, you had a very good season this year in Trinidad for Powergen”.
Bidaisee reflected on the Patriots' campaign as they are in danger of missing the playoffs in Guyana.
“I think we come in a lot closer in a couple of games. It's just unfortunate that we couldn't get across the line. But so be it, and just got to keep going and see how best we could decide to pick all these two last games and win.”
The leg spinner has impressed with both bat and ball. The West Indies has been on the look out for a genuine wrist spinner, but he said he is not thinking too far ahead.
“Yeah, well, I think I just try to take it one step at a time. I'm not trying to think too far ahead. I just try to come out. Anytime I get a chance, I just try to do well with the bat or the ball and let everything else take care of itself.”
