GREAVES AIMING TO LEAVE HER MARK

GREAVES AIMING TO LEAVE HER MARK

Anisa Greaves is one of seven beauties who will be vying for the Miss Belmont Pageant this Saturday at the Belmont Community Centre.

Hailing from Belmont Valley, the 22-year-old admitted that being involved in pageantry has made a positive impact on her life.

“While I was younger, I had always suffered with low self-esteem and confidence, learning how to talk in front of a big crowd, so for years”, Greaves explained.

“I've always wanted to just try it and see if that will help me bring out the confidence, bring out me, if it will help in like meetings, different things, I'll be able to share my voice instead of always holding it.”

The young bank professional and entrepreneur with a hair and makeup business remembered the community she is representing, how it was, and compared it to how it is currently.

"Well, when I was younger, it was more fun in a way that they could have gone outside, they had sports, things that the community could have come together and done. “

Greaves continued, “When I was young, it was more fun; they had Christmas parties, things that everyone could get involved in, but as recently, I would say if I had a child growing up in my community, it would be kind of lonely, because it doesn't have those opportunities anymore. So the environment has changed.”

Sponsored by Diva Lee Falls’ Jerk Bar, the former Bishop's student is hoping to bring glory to the community and use the occasion to pursue her goals beyond pageant competitions.

Saturday's pageant will be streamed live on wavetvtt.com from 7pm.

“I want to gain a little social (exposure) from it, so that I could probably one day become an influencer.”
